Hello and welcome to tonight’s liveblog.
We’ll be focusing primarily on the clash between Shamrock Rovers and Drogheda while keeping an eye on all tonight’s other Premier Division games.
We’re underway at Tallaght…
4 mins: As expected, Rovers are dominating possession.
Drogheda look well-organised — as they have been for much of this season — and have not been seriously troubled so far.
8 mins: Not much happening at Tallaght.
At Tolka Park, Mark Coyle has tested Joseph Anang with a long-range shot that the goalkeeper tips over the bar.
12 mins: A decent effort from Drogheda’s Shane Farrell.
The ex-Shelbourne player curls a free kick from about 30 yards out narrowly wide.
15 mins: Graham Burke puts a pass straight out of play to sum up a fairly ineffectual opening 15 minutes from Rovers’ attack.
Stephen Bradley will not be too pleased with what he has seen so far.
His side still have had 82% possession according to Virgin Media’s stats.
20 mins: Still scoreless across all four Premier Division games.
Bohs and Sligo are the only top-flight teams not in action — they meet at The Showgrounds tomorrow evening.
23 mins: At Tolka, Conor Kearns has made a couple of important saves.
The Shelbourne goalkeeper has denied Zack Elbouzedi and Aidan Keena on separate occasions.
27 mins: There are calls for a red card at Tallaght.
Elicha Ahui is penalised for stopping Nugent running through on goal, but he only receives a booking.
Rovers are beginning to up the tempo now.
CORK 0-1 DERRY (BOYCE 24)
WATERFORD 1-0 GALWAY (LEAHY 27)
Two goals have gone in a relatively short space of time.
Darragh Leahy has given Waterford the lead against Galway, heading in from Noona’s delivery.
Meanwhile, Liam Boyce has headed home for Derry against Cork.
SHELBOURNE 0-1 ST PAT’S (MELIA 29)
PENALTY MISS BY SHAMROCK ROVERS!
Graham Burke hits the outside of the post with his penalty despite sending Dennison the wrong way.
That came about after Honohan was tripped inside the area.
Elsewhere, Tottenham-bound Mason Melia has given Pat’s the lead at Tolka.
It’s a clinical finish after being sent through on goal by Kian Leavy.
40 mins: Davis volleys just wide after being set up by Brennan’s header.
It was ruled offside anyway.
Here’s a look at the Melia goal…
And here’s that Burke penalty miss…
This is the goal that’s given Waterford the lead…
HALF-TIME: WATERFORD 1-0 GALWAY
HALF-TIME: CORK 0-1 DERRY
HALF-TIME: SHELBOURNE 0-1 ST PAT’S
Here’s a look at how Boyce broke the deadlock for Derry.
HALF-TIME: SHAMROCK ROVERS 0-0 DROGHEDA
The following are the half-time scores in the First Division…
The second half has now begun in all four Premier Division games…
SHELBOURNE 1-1 ST PAT’S (WOOD 48)
Harry Wood has equalised for Shels against St Pat’s.
The former Hull player converts after being set up by Evan Caffrey.
SHAMROCK ROVERS 1-0 DROGHEDA (GREENE 50)
Aaron Greene fires home superbly for his fourth goal of the season to give Rovers a deserved lead in this top-of-the-table clash.
There was a nice pass too from Lee Grace in the build-up.
SHAMROCK ROVERS 2-0 DROGHEDA (GRACE 53)
Jack Byrne hangs a corner to the far post, and Lee Grace gets up well to powerfully head home.
It’s the defender’s third goal in seven games.
What a start to the second half by Rovers — they have left Drogheda reeling.
Here’s Harry Wood’s equaliser at Tolka…
Here’s a look at Greene’s well-taken opener at Tallaght…
CORK 1-1 DERRY (DANIELS 62)
Djenairo Daniels has equalised for Cork City against Derry.
It looked like Derry were set to move top of the table at one point this evening, but they are back to third now.
Here’s that Cork equaliser…
Here’s the Lee Grace goal…
72 mins: Rovers have been fairly comfortable since scoring the second goal.
A Drogheda comeback is looking unlikely.
CORK 1-2 DERRY (HOLT 81)
Just moments after Cork have a penalty claim denied, Derry re-take the lead.
Experienced Scottish defender Kevin Holt may have just earned the Candystripes all three points.
82 minutes: Having begun the day top of the table, Drogheda look set to end it in third place.
Kevin Doherty’s side have rarely threatened, with Rovers seeing out this game without any real difficulty.
Here’s the Holt goal, which might have won it for Derry…
SHELBOURNE 2-1 ST PAT’S (MCINROY 90)
Late drama at Tolka.
Kerr McInroy looks to have won it for Damien Duff’s men.
Meanwhile, at Tallaght, opening goalscorer Aaron Greene has been named Player of the Match by Eoin Doyle on Virgin Media.
SHAMROCK ROVERS 3-0 DROGHEDA (GAFFNEY 90)
Rovers get a third.
Noonan does really well to close down Dennison.
The ball breaks for Gaffney, who has the simple task of running it into the empty net.
Here’s a look at what is surely the winning goal at Tolka.
FULL-TIME: SHAMROCK ROVERS 3-0 DROGHEDA
FULL-TIME: SHELBOURNE 2-1 ST PAT’S
FULL-TIME: WATERFORD 1-0 GALWAY
FULL-TIME: CORK 1-2 DERRY
Full-time results in the First Division…
So tonight’s results leave Shamrock Rovers top of the table ahead of Derry on goal difference, while Drogheda drop to third.
Remarkably, however, just six points separate the teams in first and eighth place after 15 matches played.
Right, that’s all from me.
